The authentic German Christmas Market in Baltimore!

Explore Baltimore's authentic German Christmas market

Christmas Village in Baltimore is a combination of an outdoor and indoor holiday market at West Shore Park at the Inner Harbor. The event is modeled after the traditional Christmas Markets in Germany, like the famous Christkindl Market in Nuremberg.

From November 18th through Christmas Eve 2023, vendors in wooden booths will sell traditional European food, sweets and drinks. You will also find great shopping opportunities with a large variety of international holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry as well as high-quality arts and crafts.

The outdoor area around the Walter Sondheim Fountain and along the Inner Harbor Promenade will bring the original Christmas Village charm with its traditional German style wooden huts to Baltimore. In addition, a heated festival tent will create a christmas-y shopping atmosphere with more vendors, a food court and an event space.

The unique atmosphere with thousands of lights, the big Gluhwine Pyramid, the delicious smell of waffles, gingerbread, bratwurst and mulled wine gets you and your family into the perfect Christmas spirit!

The Pyramid - a German Christmas Tower from the Ore Mountains

The Pyramid is Christmas Villages newest highlight which was introduced in 2019. Thanks to 3,000 lights and its majestic 30 feet height, this beautiful new market feature shines bright throughout the Inner Harbor!

The concept of "The Pyramid" roots at the Ore Mountain region of Germany, a small mountain range in the southern part of the State of Saxony. The skilfull Christmas Ornament makers of the area started to make these wooden, carousel-like Christmas towers, which originally resembled a Christmas Tree in the middle ages. Back then, the Pyramids were meant to be displayed inside a house during Christmas time. Thus, they were rather small compared to our outdoor Pyramids.

With the growth of the Christmas Market culture in Germany, Pyramids became a central part of the German Christmas traditions. Organizers started to order huge life-size Christmas pyramids which usually accomodate the Glühwein, mulled wine, sales stand of the market. Traditionally, the Pyramids are the central meeting point of the market.

Just like in Germany, the Baltimore Pyramid is the heart of our Christmas Village. Our Pyramid was custom-made by a German craftsmen near Karlsruhe/ Germany and was shipped into the United States in early November 2019. The sales stand serves a the largest variety of Mulled Wines ever served at Christmas Village in Baltimore. Most of our wines are imported from Germany and are made by the renown Nuremberg Winery "Gerstacker". Additional to the wine selection, hot spiked and non-alcoholic beverages are served.
