Arts on the Green presents “New Perspectives,” an exhibit featuring works by the Maryland Pastel Society, at Kentlands Mansion, July 12 through September 9, 2019.
The Maryland Pastel Society, founded in 1977, is a nonprofit organization devoted to the promotion and development of professional, original works of art in the medium of soft pastel and to the creative and technical development of its members. It is the oldest state society and is an active member of the International Association of Pastel Societies. While the Society had its roots in the Baltimore area, its more than 200 members come from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
This exhibit was juried by David Lawton, a past president of the Maryland Pastel Society with more than thirty years’ experience as a pastel artist and oil painter. Lawton has studied with many nationally known artists in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions and his paintings have won awards in national competitions and have been featured in several art publications. Lawton is both a studio and plein air painter and sought after painting instructor who is currently focusing on pastel landscapes and still life.
Located at 320 Kent Square Road, the Mansion Gallery offers the opportunity to view art in the beautiful, timeless setting of historic Kentlands Mansion.
