June 1 – June 25, 2023

For the month of June, Artworks@7th will host a three-artist collaborative show, Wings and Things, representing the freedom to move, and soar.

Davy Strong, an acrylic and oil artist, loves to capture the local flora and fauna of southern Maryland.  Her art explores the bayside, the fields, and the living creatures within those environments. "I've been working with images of the wildlife I find while walking on the beach or in my garden.”

Nico Gozal has a unique process. All of his works begin with a piece of silk and colored inks.  Originally from Indonesia, he has blended his culture’s crafts with his approach to the world around him.  His winged creatures include penguins, fish, bees, and geese in formation.

The third artist is Mary Gault, both a 2-D and 3-D artist.  For the show, expect to see detailed wood sculptures and paintings of many local birds of all sizes, such as blue herons, flamingos, egrets, and other favorites. Her attention to detail is captivating.

Our guest artist this month is Pamela Callen, a past member of the gallery. Beautiful, poignant, or striking images she has seen around the world are the reason for her painting.  It is her method of communicating on some basic, universal level with viewers.  She says the gift of gab is not her strong suit, so it is the most meaningful way to share her observations of far-flung or local places, people, animals or nature.

Please join us at the opening reception on Saturday, June 3, 1- 4 PM where you’ll have a chance to meet the artists; light refreshments will be served and, weather permitting, live musicians will be on site to liven up the event.

Money spent locally stays in the local economy and continues to strengthen the economic base of the entire community. Small local businesses make indispensable contributions to communities and neighborhoods. Supporting local artists allows them the opportunity to continue to serve their communities. You will often see members of Artworks@7th supporting local charities and organizations by participating in art shows, teaching workshops, and donating items for fundraisers.
