Charlotte's Quest is an environmental learning center offering field trips, programs, events, and nature walks for the general public. Our “Outdoor School” program is the first Friday of each month for children ages 5 to 9. Outdoor Classroom is geared to home-schooled children, as well as, “Nature Explorers” which is held the second Friday of each month for children ages 7 to 10. Also offered is a preschool early learning environmental program, “Nature Nook”, the second Friday of each month for children ages 2 to 6 and “Earth Kids Club” for children ages 8 to 16 also held the second Friday of each month. Meetings of the Manchester Parks Foundation are generally at 7 pm the first Monday of each month at the center. When the first Monday is a holiday, the meeting is rescheduled for the following Monday evening; there are no meetings in December. During the months of November through March check our website or email us for Meeting arrangements. To become a member of the Manchester Parks Foundation you must be 18 years of age and attend at least four consecutive meetings prior to nomination. Special activities include an Easter Adventure Egg Hunt at 10 am two Saturdays prior to Easter. Children up to the age of 12 hunt for plastic, treat-filled eggs and the prize egg. Spring Fest, from noon to 4 pm the first Sunday in May, offers a variety of activities including vendors, crafters, exhibitors, nature programs, food, and games. An Annual Youth Fishing Derby is offered the third Saturday in June for children up to the age of 15. Anyone interested in student service hours or who wishes to volunteer their services or knowledge is encouraged to call or to email us. In particular, the center needs adults willing to supervise the center from noon until 5 pm the first Sunday of each month. The first Sunday of the month includes greeting visitors, offering information, and answering the telephone. Volunteers are also needed for trail maintenance, weeding and mulching, building maintenance, bluebird watch, help with activities and programs such as Spring Fest, grant writing, fundraising and for committees. Training is provided.
